Conformance status

The Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) defines requirements for designers and developers to improve accessibility for people with disabilities. It defines three levels of conformance: Level A, Level AA, and Level AAA. Homethreads is partially conformant with WCAG 2.1 level AA. Partially conformant means that some parts of the content do not fully conform to the accessibility standard. Homethreads is taking steps to close this gap in the near future.

Our goal is to comply with WCAG 2.1 Level AA conformance has taken the following steps to make the website compliant with WCAG 2.1 Guidelines has engaged with a third-party accessibility consulting organization, UserWay ( to work with Homethreads staff on:

  • Scanning & monitoring of the accessibility violations using an automated scanner.
  • Performing Manual accessibility audit on the critical workflows using people with various disabilities & assistive technologies.
  • Usability test of the website using people with disabilities.
  • Identifying & remediating the manual accessibility violations.
  • Training the design, developer & content teams to make accessibility part of the process & life cycle of the application.

  • All images and other non-text elements have alternative text associated with them.
  • Navigational aids are provided on all pages. Skip navigation links have been incorporated to facilitate keyboard navigation and to bypass groups of links on a page and jump directly to main content.
  • The title attribute has been used to make linked text more meaningful or to indicate if the link opens a new browser window.
  • Structural markup to indicate headings and lists has been provided to aid in page comprehension.
  • Forms are associated with labels and instructions on filling in forms are available to screen reader users.
  • Table navigation instructions are provided, and all data cells are associated with their headers.

    • PDF furniture assembly instructions: Manufacturer-supplied assembly instructions in PDF format are readable with assistive technology, but not all images have alternative text.
    • Videos depicting product attributes are supplied by manufacturers and may not be accompanied by captions. Homethreads is reviewing videos for accessibility, and will remove or remediate those that are not accessible.
